Going Back To 505

When i was a teenager i pictured myself as a famous rock star at the age of 20 or 21. Well, i'm older than that and i'm not famous at all, in fact i think that no body knows me, 'cause my parents don't count for that... right??
The kids in the picture above were born between 1985 and 1986, wich means that the oldest of these guys is only 21 years old.... that would be ok if they were just kids, but no, they're really famous, they are the Arctic Monkeys. These guys are Alex Turner (vocals and guitar), Jamie Cook (guitar), Matt Helders (drums) and Nick O'Malley (bass).

These british kids started this band in 2002 and they released their debut album in 2006, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, which became a great success in the british charts thanks to their first to singles "I Bet That You Look Good On The Dance Floor" and "When The Sun Goes Down". This Album received critical acclaim, and won a couple of british awards.

The Arctic Monkeys belong to the indie rock scene, alongside bands such as Bloc Party, Interpol, Arcade Fire, The Killers, The Strokes, Maxïmo Park, Kings Of Leon, The Bravery, The Futureheads, Kasabian, Hot Hot Heat, Kaiser Chiefs, Luke, etc. But there's something very interesting about this band, and that is beacuase their sound and music is quite original and fresh, we can say that they don't stick to the formula, mixing a lot of different styles and sounds. Alex Turner (vocalist and lyrics composer) writes about social realism, ridiculing the indie culture, the teenage culture and all those things.

I wanted to upload their debut album, but this post is a request of one of our loyal readers, and he specifically requested their second album, Favourite Worst Nightmare, released in april of this year. This is an awesome record, in fact these album sold over 225,000 copies on its debut week. I know that ciego doesn't like this album, and i prefer their first one, but that doesn't mean that this is a bad record, on the contrary this is one of the best albums that i've heard this year.
